Here you'll find all the information you'll need about the Rock 'n' Roll Marathon's registration process. Once you've got all of the details figured out, register online to save yourself the hassle of snail mail.

How to Register

Registering is easy! You may register for the Rock 'n' Roll Marathon any of the following ways:

  • Click here to register online
  • Request an entry form by mail. Please contact us at the address below and we will be happy to mail a form to you. We do not accept phone entries.

Please enter only once. If you fax or register online, do not mail a hard copy. Do not send multiple faxes or online entries.

2009 Entry Fees

Entry fees are non-refundable; race numbers and entries cannot be transferred to another year or event. No exceptions. This means once we have received your entry, you will not receive a refund if you cannot participate, and you may not give or sell your number to anyone else. All fees below in U.S. dollars.

  • $85 through 1/31/09
  • $100 (2/01/09 – 4/17/09)
  • $110 (4/18/09 - 5/24/09
  • $125 at Expo

Registration Confirmation

To confirm your registration, please click on the below link to access the Event Registration Center-MY ACCOUNT page, enter your Login ID# and Password, and click Sign in. Once your account appears, click History.

Each registered participant and finisher will receive the following:

  • Marathon entry
  • Race number, loaner timing chip, T-shirt and goodie bag to be picked up at the Health & Fitness Expo
  • Water and Accelerade along the course
  • One PowerBar Gel Zone on course
  • Food and water at the start and finish lines
  • Entertainment stages with live music and cheerleaders from start to finish
  • Finisher's medal when you cross the finish line
  • One free beer at the finish line festival
  • Entry into post-race headliner concert with your race number
  • Finisher's certificate sent to you post race
  • Last but not least, a rockin' experience miles beyond ordinary!

Packet Pick-Up

You must pick up your own race packet and bib number at the Expo prior to the race. Under no circumstances will race numbers and packets be given to family, friends or anyone other than participants themselves. No exceptions will be made.

Rules

Final confirmation cards also will be mailed one month prior to the event. A photo ID and confirmation card is required to pick up race numbers at the Health & Fitness Expo. You must have a race number to participate!

  • There will be no day-of-race registration.
  • You must be able to complete the marathon in 7 hours.
  • You must be at least 18 years old.
  • You must be in good health and physically prepared to undertake the challenges of a marathon.
  • Family and friends are not permitted to pick up your race number. No exceptions! You must show photo I.D. to pick up your race number and chip.
  • No coaches, skateboards, baby joggers, bikes, dogs or inline skates will be allowed on the course.

Wheelchair Program and Protocol

Racing Wheelchair Division

  • Start in front of the Elite start line 5 minutes prior to runners’ race.

People's Standard Wheelchairs

  • Start in the appropriate corrals for your projected finish time / pace.

No Handcycle Division

Due to safety issues on the course, and in accordance with International Paralympic Committee rules, NO handcycles (handbikes, handcrank devices or other mechanically gear driven devices) will be permitted in the race.

Racing Wheelchair Division Rules

  • Racing wheelchairs shall be defined as a customized performance chair.
    IPC Athletics Rules will be enforced. For additional rules view: www.ipc-athletics.org.
  • Further the race will abide by the rules and policies of the recognized governing bodies of the sports of wheelchair racing, which do not allow the use of mechanical gears found on handbikes. For additional information contact: Wheelchair Sports USA www.wsusa.org and the International Paralympic Committee www.ipc-athletics.org.

Everyday Wheelchairs

  1. Everyday wheelchairs shall be defined as a stock manual wheelchair.
  2. The wheelchair shall have at least four functional wheels.
  3. The overall length of the chair from outside of front casters/wheels to outside of rear wheel shall not exceed 100cm.
  4. The rear wheels shall not exceed 70 cm in diameter.
    The front caster/wheels shall not exceed 8 inches/ 17.6 cm in diameter.
  5. The rear seat height must be greater than 30 cm (13.6 inches). Persons of small stature may be exempt.
  6. Only one plain round hand rim is allowed for each rear wheel. This rule may be waived for persons requiring a single arm drive chair.
  7. No mechanical gears or levers shall be allowed.
    The chair must be manually propelled.
  8. All chairs are subject to a rules and safety inspection.
  9. Runners and walkers in all races will have the right of way. Wheelchair racers shall yield to runners or walkers.
  10. It will be the athlete’s responsibility to meet the above rules.

Cancellation

If you cannot participate, the entry fee for the 2008 race will not transfer to the 2009 race. We will, however, be happy to ship you a T-shirt from the 2008 race with a written request. Send us your request via email or snail mail and include your name, street address, sex, age, phone number and T-shirt size.

Age Groups

Commemorative Rock 'n' Roll gold records will be awarded three deep in 13 age groups and a Military Division:

18 - 24 55 - 59 Gold Record Award
25 - 29 60 - 64
30 - 34 65 - 69
35 - 39 70 - 74
40 - 44 75 - 79
45 - 49 80+
50 - 54 Military Division
 

  I had a blast and I'll be back next year. Can't believe I've lived here for so long and I've never run a marathon in my own backyard.
